Short version: some of the product links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you.

What that means

National Everyday is reader-supported. When we recommend gear, gifts, or treats on a national-day page, some of those links go through affiliate programs. If you click one and make a purchase, the retailer may pay us a small percentage. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be otherwise.

How we pick what to recommend

The commission never decides the recommendation. We suggest things because they're genuinely good — the kind of thing we'd buy ourselves or hand to a friend. We keep lists short and specific on purpose: no 40-item slideshows, no filler stuffed with links.

The product links we place by hand are marked with rel="sponsored nofollow" and open in a new tab, so those are plainly commercial.

Automatic affiliate links (Sovrn)

Beyond the links we place by hand, we use Sovrn (a link-monetization service, formerly VigLink) to manage affiliate relationships across the site. When it's enabled, Sovrn loads a small script on each page that can automatically turn eligible outbound retailer links into affiliate links — which means some commercial links aren't individually marked. The safe assumption: any outbound link to a shop or retailer may be an affiliate link. It never changes the price you pay, and it never changes what we recommend. Sovrn may set cookies and record which links you click in order to credit a purchase. In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland this automatic script runs only if you accept the affiliate-link cookies (via the banner, or "Cookie choices" in the footer); elsewhere it's on by default. Networks change

Affiliate relationships come and go, and we swap the underlying links as programs open, close, or change. If a link ever looks broken or points somewhere unexpected, please let us know.
